February 9, 2006
NOA Project Number: E05163A
4.0 EVALUATION OF IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
Agricultural chemical residues may remain on the property. No evidence was found, however, to
indicate that the chemicals were applied inappropriately.
The above-ground storage tank is not within a secondary containment area. Any and all leaks
c could potentially impact the soil.
l
5.0 CONCLUSIONS-AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Given the historical uses of agricultural chemicals on the subject property, meaningful conclusions
regarding the presence or extent of such material cannot be determined without soil sampling and
analysis.. Such sampling and analysis is especially warranted in the conversion of agricultural land
F1 into residential use. This proposed parcel division indicates a new residential structure, however
farming-activities are to continue on the majority of the property. Therefore, sampling is
recommended in the area of the residence prior-to building of residential structure, but after the
removal of the portion of the orchard.
Should the future residents of the subject property be interested in determining the quality of their
F1_ drinking water, EHD should be contacted for direction regarding the potential for impacts to
groundwater from the agricultural history of the property and vicinity.
Because no staining was observed in the vicinity of the transformers, the transformers are not
considered an environmental threat to the subject property at this time. Should the property
owners or the EHD be concerned about PCB contamination from the transformer,PG&E should
be contacted to test, retrofit, or replace the transformer.
As the site is developed, any stained soil or sources of contamination identified should be
F! characterized and properly disposed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
To prevent soil staining or soil contamination from the above-ground storage tank a secondary
F1 containment should be placed around the tank.
6.0 LIMITATIONS
This report was compiled as a Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report for the subject
property. This report contains information and data provided to NOA by several sources. NOA
in no way warrants the accuracy or completeness of the information provided to this investigation
by those sources.
ii
9
