R5-2003-0106 <br />E LOCKEFORD WINERY, SANJOAQUIN COUNTY <br />Regional Board staff have reviewed your 9 October 2003 addendum Notice of Intent (NOI) for coverage <br />under General Waste Discharge Requirements No. R5-2003-0029, On -Site Storage and Off -Site <br />Disposal of Wastewater Generated by Commercial Wineries Within the Central Valley Region. You <br />previously submitted a $400 filing fee. Our review finds that the addendum NOI to be complete. <br />As you may be aware, on 11 July 2003, the Regional Board rescinded General WDRs Order No. R5- <br />2003-029 and adopted Resolution No R5-2003-0106 (a copy of which is enclosed). Resolution No. R5- <br />2003-0106 is a conditional waiver of waste discharge requirements for small food processors including <br />wineries. Based on the information submitted in the NOI, the discharge satisfies the general and specific <br />conditions of Resolution No. R5-2003-0106 for the current amount of grapes crushed and wastewater <br />produced. Therefore, the NOI satisfies the criteria necessary for enrollment under the waiver. <br />Discharge Descriptio <br />Cosentino Signature Enterprises Ltd., LLC. owns the Lockeford Winery at 16750 East Highway 88 in <br />w - Lockeford, San_ Joaquin Coi! t . The Discharger estimates that�l_5,000 gallons of wine will be produced <br />-: <br />w and that approximately 45,000 to 60,000 -of- of wastewater will be generated annuallyatthe facility. <br />Winery wastewater will be stored on site in a 5,000 -gallon concrete tank until it is hauled by a licensed <br />septic hauler to the White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility at 12751 North Thornton Road in <br />Lodi. Residual solids, (pumice, culls, and stems) from the winery operation will be spread throughout <br />the vineyard and tilled into the soil, or disposed of at an off-site treatment facility. <br />Conditional Waiver <br />Based on the information submitted in the NOI, the discharge as described above satisfies the general <br />and specific conditions of Resolution No. R5-2003-0106 for the current amount of wastewater produced. <br />Therefore, this Ietter serves as formal notice that Resolution No. R5-2003-0106 is applicable and waste <br />discharge requirements for this facility are waived. <br />California Environmental Protection Agency <br />00 Recycled Paper <br />The energy challenge facing California is real.
