1
ti
GRADIENT OF WATER TABLE
WELL A = 45 (Elevation above sea level.)
WELL B-6 U
13 feet of difference
y FEET
1072 FEET - 1.2% GRADIENT TO THE SOUTH
This drop could be the effect of wells in Clements drawing down the water level.
The drainfield will be located on the sloping ground. The initial drainfield will be 80
feet above the permanent water table.
r
(4) The past use of the subject parcel has been agriculture. The old brick building on
the parcel was used for a variety of agricultural enterprises. The most common uses ;
were drying hops and storage of hay. The parcel was used as a feed lot. There is concrete
tank used for storage of water and/or molasses. At the present time, it is empty. There
are no known uses of this parcel which would have produced toxic chemicals.
(5) To our knowledge, there are no contaminants in the wells of Clements caused by
septic systems. A search for studies on the subject has not been fruitful. We know of no
studies. A new community well has just been put on line. Testing has shown no bacteria
in the well and the quality met Title 22.' Private wells are being filled.
The effect the proposed system will have on the ground water can be divided into two
categories - hydraulics and additives.
i
Hydraulics
Water will be drawn from a community well near the east side of the parcel. On the
average, 6840 gpd will be used for waste disposal. (The design flow is 250 gpd x 38 =
9500 gpd. Actual flow will be closer to 180 gpd x 38 = 6840 gpd). During the
summer, the treated water will be used to irrigate street trees. This will save water '
which over the summer (April through October) would amount to (7 months x
204,000 gpd) 1.4 million gallons.
During the winter (5 months x 204,000) 1.02 million gallons will be returned to the
groundwater. This figure is based on estimated actual gallons rather than design flows.
7
d
d
