4
Clements Oakridge Estates Water System
Page 2
1. The well water shall be sampled and tested for the following water quality tests to ensure
the source meets California Safe Drinking Water Standards. A state certified laboratory
personnel at a state approved laboratory facility shall do the sampling-and testing.
Instruct the laboratory to label these samples as Well #1, and obtain them from the
f wellhead.
a. .Secondary (aesthetics): Bicarbonate, carbonate, and hydroxide alkalinity, calcium,
iron, magnesium, manganese, pH, sodium, and total hardness are required once every
three years (California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Section 64449).
b. Inorganic_chemicals: Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432
(b)(1)). This Department currently waives asbestos and cyanide.
C. Nitrates: Required annually. Sampling shall be quarterly if results exceed %2 of the
Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 45mg/L (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (a)).
d. Nitrites: Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (a)). j
e. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Required once every 6 years. If a sample
result exceeds the Detection Limit, then sampling shall be quarterly for that VOC
(CCR, Title 22, Section 64445 and 64445.1).
f. Synthetic Organic Com ounds SOCs): Required once every three years. If a
sample result exceeds the Detection Limit, then sampling shall be quarterly for that
SOC (CCR, Title 22, Section 64445.1). This Department currently waives SOCs
except for DBCP and EDB.
g. Bacteriolo ical: The Department will require at least two consecutive bacteriological
samples that are Total_Coliform Absent and Fecal Absent. The tests shall be taken and
reported within a seven-da period and in no case be more than twenty-eight 28 days
prior to use of the well. Routine bacteriological samples will then be required once
each calendar month from the distribution system per the Sample Siting Plan.
h. Radiological: Required once a quarter for one year for Gross alpha and Radium-
228. Additional monitoring frequencies will be determined on the average of the
initial results. (CCR, Title 22, Section 64441).
The water from the new Well may not be placed into the drinking water distribution system until all
water sample results from tests "a-g"have been submitted and found to meet drinking water
standards by EHD. Use of this well as a drinking water source before gaining EHD approval may
result in further legal action and fees.
2 Provide to EHD the manufacturers specifications on the well pump and storage tanks
including the pump curve data sheet.
i
3 Provide EHD with data that demonstrates the new source can provide an adequate quality
and quantity of water according to the California Water Works Standard(pump tests,
meter readings, etc.).
4 Provide to EHD the driller's well log and an updated technical report as required by the
Health and Safety (H&S) Code, Section 116530.
