The valley is 400 miles long, 50 miles wide, and comprises <br /> t x <br /> approximately 20,006 square miles. The valley has been filled with a thick ' <br /> E <br /> sequence of marine and nonmarine sediments from the late Jurassic to Holocene. <br /> r .e E <br /> The uppermost strata of the Great Valley represents, for the most part,the alluvial, <br /> flood, and delta plains of two major rivers (Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers) <br /> .REGIONAL �E <br /> and their tributaries.
