Item No. 2 <br /> PC: 415-93 <br /> SA-93-3 <br /> Page 2 <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> The applicant is proposing construction of a cherry packing shed and controlled atmosphere cold storage, <br /> primarily for cherries and apples,to be developed in two phases over a five-year period. Phase 1 consists <br /> of a 32,852-square400t area for cold storage, a machine room, a shipping office, and a receiving office. <br /> Phase 2 consists of a 54,481-square-foot area for the fumigation control rooms, a shop, and the <br /> processing fines where cherries are sorted, washed, and packed. Also to be constructed during this <br /> phase is a 3,047-square-foot office area, and two commercial coaches with a covered area will be <br /> provided for the employees lunch room. A total of 107 parking spaces will be provided. During this <br /> phase,the process of cherry fumigation will be initiated. During the months of August through mid-April <br /> when the site Is being used for cold storage,there will be approximately nine employees, with hours of <br /> opmatlon from 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. During the five-week cherry packing season, which starts at the <br /> beginning of May,the hours of operation will be from 7:00 am.to 5:00 p.m.,seven days a week,with 150 <br /> employees. For two weeks during the five-week cherry packing season, there will be an additional shift <br /> from 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with 110 employees. Sewage disposal will be provided by a new septic <br /> system, and water will be provided by a public well. The storm drainage will be handled by an on-site <br /> retention pond. <br /> The 25-acre parcel that is contiguous to the south is an existing packing shed and is currently pending <br /> a Site Approval application for the addition of cold storage.The applicant proposes that the two projects <br /> share a common driveway and a common drainage pond. The perimeter of both sites will be enclosed , <br /> by a fence for security purposes. <br />
