PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS
At 0930 on August 4, 2004, one shallow percolation test boring of 38.5 inches in depth was hand-
drilled in an area that would be the most logical location for the leachfield of a second unit dwelling
on proposed Parcel 1. This location is denoted on the attached Tentative Map. A deep boring
representative of sumps or seepage pits was not drilled and tested since seepage pits are not allowed
in this area, and sumps are strongly discouraged. From a nitrate loading standpoint, it is much more
beneficial to install the leachlines as high in elevation as possible, which would preclude the
installation of deeper septic system structures. Pere tests were also not conducted on the Designated
Remainder, pursuant to EHD requirements.
After drilling with a four-inch diameter auger, the sidewalls were scored with a pry-bar and the loose
material removed. Two inches of fine gravel was placed at the bottom and three-inch perforated
PVC pipe was inserted. The test boring was pre-saturated with 12 inches of water, approximately 24
hours before the start of perc testing.
On August 5, 2004, percolation testing commenced. There-was no standing water after the 24-hour
soak period-, therefore, EHD Percolation Test Procedure#2 was performed. However, EHD
Procedure#3 could have been run because the first 6 inches of water seeped away before the end of
the first 30 minutes. Readings could have been taken every 10 minutes, over a one hour period. By
running the perc test for four hours, maximum soil saturation was introduced giving a perc rate
indicative of"worst-case scenario'conditions.
Page -5-
Chesney Consulting
