Paraquat dichloride (Gramoxone) is a quartenary nitrogen herbicide used to control
broadleaf weeds. It is highly toxic to animals by all routes of exposure. Paraquat has a
half-life in soil of 16 months to 13 years; it binds strongly to soil particles, and bound ,
residues can persist indefinitely (EXTOXNET, 1993). '
Fenpropathrin is a pyrethroid insecticide and miticide with moderate to low acute oral,
dermal, inhalation, and eye/skin toxicity. It is toxic to wildlife and extremely toxic to fish
and aquatic organisms. Fenpropathrin is considered unlikely to leach in most soil and, /
consequently, unlikely to contaminate ground water (PMEP, 1989).
Copies of the Agricultural Commissioner's records are included in Appendix 5.
7.5 Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources Maps
The California Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) Online
Mapping System (DOMS) was queried on October 3, 2011 for mapped oil or gas wells
within one-quarter mile of the subject Site. Two wells were identified in the search area:
• Hilliard Oil & Gas, Inc. "L&W Trustee" 1, a plugged, dry hole. This well is located
approximately 500 feet west-southwest of the Site.
• Amerada Hess Corp., "Martinez" 25-2, a plugged, dry hole. This well is located
close to one-quarter mile west of the Site.
Because these wells were dry holes and are located some distance from the Site, no
impact to the Site is anticipated.
7.6 National Pipeline Mapping System Database
Live Oak reviewed the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) database for
evidence of hazardous materials pipelines within one-quarter mile of the Site. No such
pipelines were identified.
LOGE 1129 Page 6
