?+r1 WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS _3- ALPINE PACKING COMPANY SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY 2. Discharge of waste classified as 'hazardous' or 'designated' , as defined in Sections 2521(a) and 2522(a) of Chapter 15, is prohibited. 3. The discharge of waste to holding areas, conveyance systems, and land disposal areas not adequately maintained to prevent odor nuisance or vector breeding is prohibited. 4. Discharge of salt wastes from ham and bacon processing is prohibited. 5. Application of manure wastes to the disposal area is prohibited. B. Discharge Specifications: 1 . The discharge shall not cause degradation of ground or surface waters. 2. Neither the treatment or discharge of waste shall cause a nuisance or condition of pollution as defined by the California Water Code, Section 13050. 3. The treatment and disposal facilities shall be designed, constructed, operated, and maintained to prevent inundation or washout due to floods with a 100-year return frequency. 4. There shall be no visible standing water in the disposal area 24 hours after wastewater is applied. — 5. Application of wastewater to land shall be at a rate which is reasonable for the crop, soil , climate, special local situations, management system, and type of waste. 6. Application of materials containing nitrogen, including but not limited to wastewater and commercial fertilizer, shall not exceed the crop requirement on an annual basis. Application rates shall be timed to minimize nitrogen movement below the root zone. 7. Application of wastewater to land shall be managed to minimize percolation to ground water. Such application shall not result in surface runoff from the cropland. 8. Ponds shall be managed to prevent breeding of mosquitos. In particular, a.
