?+r1 <br /> WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS _3- <br /> ALPINE PACKING COMPANY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> 2. Discharge of waste classified as 'hazardous' or 'designated' , as <br /> defined in Sections 2521(a) and 2522(a) of Chapter 15, is <br /> prohibited. <br /> 3. The discharge of waste to holding areas, conveyance systems, and <br /> land disposal areas not adequately maintained to prevent odor <br /> nuisance or vector breeding is prohibited. <br /> 4. Discharge of salt wastes from ham and bacon processing is <br /> prohibited. <br /> 5. Application of manure wastes to the disposal area is prohibited. <br /> B. Discharge Specifications: <br /> 1 . The discharge shall not cause degradation of ground or surface <br /> waters. <br /> 2. Neither the treatment or discharge of waste shall cause a nuisance <br /> or condition of pollution as defined by the California Water Code, <br /> Section 13050. <br /> 3. The treatment and disposal facilities shall be designed, <br /> constructed, operated, and maintained to prevent inundation or <br /> washout due to floods with a 100-year return frequency. <br /> 4. There shall be no visible standing water in the disposal area 24 <br /> hours after wastewater is applied. — <br /> 5. Application of wastewater to land shall be at a rate which is <br /> reasonable for the crop, soil , climate, special local situations, <br /> management system, and type of waste. <br /> 6. Application of materials containing nitrogen, including but not <br /> limited to wastewater and commercial fertilizer, shall not exceed <br /> the crop requirement on an annual basis. Application rates shall <br /> be timed to minimize nitrogen movement below the root zone. <br /> 7. Application of wastewater to land shall be managed to minimize <br /> percolation to ground water. Such application shall not result in <br /> surface runoff from the cropland. <br /> 8. Ponds shall be managed to prevent breeding of mosquitos. In <br /> particular, <br /> a. An erosion control program should assure that small coves and <br /> irregularities are not created around the perimeter of the <br /> water surface. <br />
