)!TONAL INFORMATION REQIENTS
BEAR CREEK WINERY
LODI,SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
1) Provide a flow diagram of the wastewater generation and treatment system. Include a map
showing the locations of all treatment equipment, clarifiers, sumps, or pump stations.
Describe procedures to control contaminants in the wastewater streams and in the wastewater
ponds.
2) Describe the existing and proposed wastewater disposal system, all land application areas, and
any changes that you are proposing. Show the locations of all existing/proposed land
application areas on a topographic map. Staff is concerned that the low level of treatment
prior to discharge will result in inadequately treated wastewater commingling with stormwater
which then migrates out of the land application areas. Please address this issue.
3) If surface impoundments will be used to store wastewater or regeneration brine, provide
diagrams and a description of the planned impoundment, location, size and depth, construction
materials, inlet and outlets, depth to groundwater below the bottom of the pond, and existing
or planned groundwater monitoring wells. If stormwater ponds exist, have they ever
overflowed?
4) Allowing for two feet of freeboard, what is the approximate storage capacity of any planned
wastewater ponds? Provide a water balance that evaluates the containment structures ability
to provide sufficient capacity on a month by month basis. Include monthly evaporation,
precipitation, and irrigation rates as well as monthly discharge volumes. Rainfall shall be
based on the 100-year return period total annual precipitation.
5) Please resubmit the loading calculations using both crush and non-crush flow rates and
contaminant concentrations. Present loading rates for BOD (in lbs/acre-day), total nitrogen(in
lbs/acre-year), and dissolved solids (in lbs/acre-year). Provide a description of the disposal
areas and the disposal technique. State the number of acres of land used for disposal and crops
planned for application areas (show locations of land on map). Describe harvesting and crop
disposal procedures. Describe the mixing ratio of wastewater and supplemental irrigation
water prior to application, and describe the tailwater control and return system. (Note:
Discharge of wastewater to fallow land is not an acceptable method of disposal).
6) Describe the existing wastewater disposal system, and any changes that you are proposing. If
possible, show that this method of disposal will not impact the quality of the underlying
groundwater otherwise, describe proposed changes to the system.
11/19/2001
c.wnM fawvew..cwww.k
