On any day when a sample was collected from a
discharge point, both Potter Creek monitoring sites are also to be sampled . f
2 The tailwater holding pond ("Basin B") does not have to be sampled if a discharge
sample from the pond had been collected during the month .
The surface water samples were analyzed for:
• Nitrate as N by EPA Method 300 .0
• Ammonia as N by SM4500
Each of the samples was analyzed on a standard laboratory turn-around requiring
approximately 10 working days for analysis .
During expansion of nursery operations in 2007, an additional basin (Basin D ) was built in the
northeastern section of the nursery. The purpose of the basin is to capture runoff during the
irrigation season and to provide flood control during the rainy season . According to Norman 's
Nursery personnel , no discharges have been observed during the irrigation season . During
winter storm events, Potter Creek has occasionally backed up and water from the creek has
filled the basin . Prior to construction of the basin and development of this portion of the site,
periodic flooding from Potter Creek inundated the area . Norman's Nursery has incorporated
observations of potential releases from this basin into their daily observations of surface water
117226.
