Kleinfelder contracted with a commercial database service, <br /> y� Environmental Data Resources (EDR), to review the regulatory agency lists for references to the <br /> site and any listings within the appropriate ASTM minimum search distance to the site. The <br /> EDR database search results are included in Appendix A, Regulatory Agency Database <br /> Summary. A description of the types of information contained in each of the databases reviewed <br /> 1 <br /> L and the agency responsible for compiling the data is included in the EDR Radius Report. Additional information for some of these facilities may be on-file <br /> at Federal, State or local regulatory agencies. Kleinfelder did not review agency files as part of <br /> this scope of work. In summary: <br /> Marley Cooling Tower Company, approximately 1,000 feet southeast of the site, at 150 North <br /> 1. Sinclair Avenue, appears on the FINDS, RCRIS-LQG, RAATS, CORRACTS, CERC-NFRAP, <br /> Cal-Sites, AWP, CA-WDS HAZNET, Cortese, CA BOND EXP. Plan, WMUDS/SWAT, CA <br /> SLIC and Toxic Pits databases. The Marley Cooling Tower Company (MCTC) has been in <br /> ` operation since 1942. From 1966 to 1982, the company used chromated copper-arsenate to <br /> pressure treat wood to fabricate cool towers. The MCTC site covers an area of approximately 30 <br /> acres. The facility is divided into a north and south yard. The south yard is used for milling and <br /> fabrication of untreated wood. According to the EDR report, limited areas of the south yard were <br /> used to store treated wood. The north yard contains a wood treatment facility. Soil and <br /> groundwater contamination is believed to be due to the wood treatment facility. Hexavalent <br /> chromium levels in the groundwater have exceeded Federal and State drinking water standards. <br /> According to the EDR report monitoring wells are sampled and monitored regularly.
