Street Furniture. Furniture shall be of a common design throughout the Neighborhood Center in <br /> order to reinforce the common neighborhood theme, and reduce future maintenance costs. <br /> Furniture should include benches,picnic tables, trash containers, barbecue pits(if any), or other <br /> similar items, as determined by the MHCSD. The furnishings shall be selected as part of the <br /> infrastructure design of the surrounding Neighborhood,consistent with the MHCSD Design <br /> Manual. - <br /> 9. Public Art. Neighborhood Parks shall include public art consistent with the Master Plan <br /> requirement that public art be incorporated into appropriate areas open to the public. Public art <br /> should be located at one of the primary entries or focal points in the park, such as the open space <br /> corridor trail crossing of the collector near the Neighborhood Commercial site. It may include <br /> earth forms, special furnishings,unique planting or landscape elements,as well as more <br /> traditional art forms such as sculpture or mosaics. <br /> d. Neighborhood Commercial — <br /> 1. Building Siting. Buildings shall be located adjacent to the collector street with parking and <br /> service to the rear or sides. Main entrances shall face the collector street. Setbacks should be <br /> minimized for building entries facing the street or the open space corridor. Outdoor eating, <br /> gathering, or other plaza areas shall be included in the subsequent site plans. <br /> 2. Vehicular Access and Parking. Off-street parking shall be located to rear or sides of buildings. <br /> Additional parking will be available on adjacent streets. <br /> 3. Pedestrian and Bicycle Access. On-site walkways for bicycle and pedestrian access shall connect <br /> to street sidewalks, the open space corridor trail,and adjacent Class III bicycle route along the <br /> collector street. <br /> 4. Crosswalks shall be provided at street intersections, as determined by the MHCSD, and may <br /> include enhanced ma*erials such as brick, stone,patterned concrete,concrete pavers or other <br /> materials compatible with the common theme, as approved by the MHCSD. Materials and <br /> treatments shall be consistent with the MHCSD Design Manual. <br /> 5. Bicycle racks and/or lockers shall be located near building entries, and may be located near transit <br /> stops. - <br /> 6. Architecture. Building architecture shall reflect the Prairie theme established for the <br /> neighborhood commercial area.
