ENVIRONMENTALCHECKLIST 4.8 HYDROLOGY AND WATER QUAuTY The project site is not within a 100-year flood hazard area as mapped in the MHMP (Figure 15.7) or on a FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map. No impact would occur(EDAW,2005b). Mitigation Measures No mitigation measures are required. h) Place within a 100 year food hazard area structures which would impede or redirect food flows? — Refer to discussion for Item g) above. Mitigation Measures No mitigation measures are required. i) Expose people or structures to a significant risk of loss, injury or death involving flooding, including flooding of as a result of the failure of a levee or dam? — Refer to discussion for Item g), above. The project site is not located downstream of any levee or dam. The lowest elevation of the project site is higher than the tops of the levees along the south side of Old River, thus the site would not be subject to flooding if a levee along Old River should fail. Although unlikely, if a severe earthquake should rupture the Delta Mendota Canal or the California Aqueduct,the pump stations that feed the canals would be shut down to save water and avoid any downstream flooding until the canals could be repaired. Mitigation Measures No mitigation measures are required. j) Inundation by seiche, tsunami, or mudflow? The proposed project would not be subject to a seiche or tsunami because the project site is not located near any large water bodies. The project site,when developed,and the adjacent — lands to the south and west would have no terrain features high and steep enough to generate a mudflow that would impact the project site.
