I
k'q KLEiNFELDER
i
6 SITE RECONNAISSANCE
6.1. METHODOLOGY AND LIMITING CONDITIONS
Ms. Laura Voss, Kleinfelder Staff Geologist, conducted a site reconnaissance on April 11, 2005
"-; to assess and photograph present site conditions. The approximate site boundaries are shown on
Plate 2, "Site Map," and color photographs of the site are presented on Plate 4 (Appendix A).
The site conditions discussed below are limited to readily apparent environmental conditions
observed.
- 6.2. GENERAL SITE SETTING
1
` The site is the southernmost property on the eastern side of the undeveloped road that extends
south from Grant Line Road near the San Joaquin-Alameda County border in Tracy, California
(APN 209-07-26). The site encompasses approximately 13 acres and is bisected by a stream that
!r trends in a southwest to northwest direction. Currently the site is a fallow field with a residence,
garage, and shed located adjacent and west of the site (20058 W. Grant Line Road).
'-- The approximate 12 acres of the site is a fallow field. A stream trends northeast to southwest
across the center of the site. A culvert for the stream runs under the unnamed road. An AST that
appears to be used for water is located near the eastern border of the site. No leaking, staining,
i or stressed vegetation was observed around the tank.
Adjacent to the site to the west is a rural residence (20058 W. Grant Line Road) with a garage to
the south and associated yard is located along the undeveloped road adjacent to the northwest
corner of the site and comprises approximately I acre. East of the garage is a shed. The
majority of the yard appears to be used as a driveway for farm vehicles and trailers, and
numerous vehicles are parked in this area. Two cars are parked west of the residence, a boat is
parked north of the residence, a tractor is parked southwest of the garage, and numerous trailers
are parked around the onsite structures. Where the yard is not used as a driveway, it contains
numerous debris piles. Ash piles that appear to be burn piles are located east of the shed. The
burn pile closest to the shed also has a metal burn can with ash and debris in it. Two 55-gallon
drums were observed onsite, one west of the residence and one north of the garage. Both drums
were unlabeled and laying sideways. The drum west of the residence is plastic. The opening of
the drum was not covered and it was less than '/4 full. .Some staining was observed around the
opening of the drum and on the side of the drum. The drum north of the garage is metal and
rusted. It is split in half vertically, but no leaking or staining was observed on or around it. An
approximately 5-foot tall soil pile is located in the southeast corner of the yard. The pile is
j
Foi:
overgrown with grass and appeared circular. A fire hydrant is located near the northwestern
corner of the reside
4} 55568.P01/ST05R488R/LTV:Iv Page 19 of 30
©2005 Kleinfelder,Inc. June 1,2005
"ti
