R m KLEINFELDER
EXPECT MORE
As previously mentioned, a concentration of DBCP was not found in the groundwater
in detectable amounts.
The nearest water body to the site is the San Joaquin River, approximately 2 miles to
the west. Due to the distance to the San Joaquin River and the general gradient of
groundwater, we anticipate that the impact to surface water will be low.
The concentration of nitrate-nitrogen (NO3) in the groundwater was below the state
standard of 45 mg/I. Based on these results and the results of our nitrate loading
calculations, we estimate that the potential nitrate-nitrogen concentration in
groundwater, resulting from the proposed leach field, will not rise above the state
standard.
Even though the estimated waste/septic flow and nitrate concentration of the leach
field effluent value used in our calculations are probably conservative, it is our
professional opinion that a conventional septic tank/leach trench sewage disposal
system designed per SJCEHD criteria will adequately serve the proposed Pilot Travel
Center and that there is not a need for an engineered septic system to be installed at
the site.
11. LIMITATIONS
Kleinfelder has prepared this report in accordance with the generally accepted
standards of care that exist in San Joaquin County at the time of writing. It should be
recognized that definition and evaluation of geologic and chemical subsurface
conditions are difficult. Judgments leading to conclusions and recommendations are
generally made with an incomplete knowledge of the subsurface and/or historic
conditions applicable to the site. The conclusions of this report are based on the
information provided regarding the existing and proposed development and on-site
conditions as well as our field observations, percolation test results, and experience in
the project area. It was assumed that the percolation test results are representative of
the subsurface conditions in the general area. No warranty, expressed or implied, is
made.
Regulations and professional standards applicable to Kleinfelder's services are
continually evolving. Techniques are, by necessity, often new and relatively untried.
Different professionals may reasonably adopt different approaches to similar
problems. Therefore, no warranty or guarantee, expressed or implied, will be included
in Kleinfelder's scope of service.
Kleinfelder will assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any claim, loss of
property value, damage, or injury that results from pre-existing hazardous materials
being encountered or present on the project site, or from the discovery of such
hazardous materials.
6.
82946.G01/ST07R401 lSJW:Ivllr May 30,2007
L ©2007 Kleinfelder Page 7 of 8
