that dust encourages tM buildup of insects. This could caus'era problem in my
adjacent vineyard.
• If the material is Kept damp to control the dust, then this moisture adjacent to my
vineyard may increase the development of Mildew in my vineyard.
• Odor and noise and the possibility of more Flys, and insects in the area is a
concern.
• The piles and windrows of material awaiting composting, could increase the habitat
and nesting area for rodents, squirrels, rabbits and coyotes.
• My property lies directly to the east of the proposed site_ The prevailing winds are
from the west/North west. This puts my property directly downwind from the site.
• The material used for composting will contain Leaves, Garden refuse, lawn
clippings. In this area Bermuda grass Crab grass and Dandilions are present
in most lawns. These weeds produce a very small light seed. This seed is easily
carried by wind. These weeds are very prolific and expensive to control. Also, other
noxious weeds may be spread to the adjacent vineyards.
• The urban refuse which will be composted on the site, may contain other debris,
such as paper, plastic, metal cans and glass which could become a problem.
We feel that this is not the best location for the proposed Composting Site. It is too
close to the City limits and existing residential areas. It also poses the potential for
additional cultural costs to the neighboring fields and vineyards.
Your consideration of the concerns which I have identified will be appreciated.
Sin /anassero Mike J.
Property owner
1490 E.
