Dear Sirs,
I am writing this letter in concern of the labor camp that is
being proposed for construction by Mr. J. Rios around the vicinity
of Tully Rd. and Harney Ln. I am opposed to this labor camp
being a property owner on Jack Tone Rd. Unlike many of the
supporters of this camp, who live elsewhere, this camp will
directly effect me. Many reasons have been proposed for and
against this camp. The bottom line however, is that this camp is
not needed. I feel that the migrant workers can find affordable
places to live within the community. This, in the long run, is better
for thein and the community, rather than being indebted to Mr.
Rios. The real reason for the construction of this camp is money.
Mr. Rios claims to care for the workers, etc. but the ability to profit
from this endeavor is the real motivation and the basis of his
support from the banks, and other area farmers. The kind of
indentured servitude proposed by Mr. Rios can hardly be
considered as caring for the migrant workers. This kind of control
of the workers was stopped when Middle Ages carne and went. It
is too bad that this kind of monopolization of human beings is
being disguised as the right thing to do for the workers. Mr. Rios
is a very persistent man when it comes to this camp. Is it because
of his big heart? Or is it because there is a lot of money to be made
on this project? I would love to see the numbers given to the bank
on this project. Perhaps the question that needs to be asked is how
much money is going to be made? If you think logically about it
you will see the real motivation.
The Clarks
13257 N. Jack Tone Rd.
Lodi, Ca. 95240
(209) 931-0 48 n
