... 1-W
May 28, 1999
San Joaquin County
Community Development Department
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: Jose J. Rios—Farm Labor Camp
South side Harney Lane,Lodi
To Whom It May Concern:
Let this letter serve as our written objection regarding the above referenced proposed
project.
We,along with our neighbors, are long time homeowners in the immediate area and
we feel our concerns are valid and should be taken seriously. And,as you are aware,
this is not the first time this project has been put before the Board, which the Board has
repeatedly rejected,because of similar concerns.
First, our area already has one labor camp within close proximity to the new proposed
camp. Also, the impact on traffic, sewer and water are very much our concern. We
are also concerned about the security provisions for a 400-man camp. We are very
concerned about the demand 400 MEN will have—the possibility of vandalism, drug
use, drunk driving and prostitution becoming a problem—remember this is a camp for
400 MEN.
We feel this project is too large for the area especially with a similar camp just a short
distance away. We also feel the impact on our resources will be too taxing. Most
importantly we feel that a camp for 400 MEN is completely unacceptable. If the camp
was a family housing camp it might be taken into consideration. We feel that Mr. Rios
is jeopardizing the current residents for his own benefit and profit by housing "just the
workers".
Your continued rejection of this proposed camp would very much appreciated. We feel
it is in the best interest for the area and residents. Thank you very much for your
consideration in this matter.
t
Siricerely,
Kevin &Heidi errill
12202 Cadle Road, Lodi, CA 95240
