Box 550.
Acompo, CA 95220
Subject: BIOLOGICAL RESOURCES SURVEY AT 20-ACRE FARM LABOR CAMP (PROJECT
SITE EAST OF LODI, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mark:
Thank you for contracting with Moore Biological Consultants to conduct ❑ biological
resources survey of the subjoct site. The focus of our work was to conduct a site
evaluation for wetlands and suitable habitat for or presence of sensitive species. This
letter report details the methodology and results of our investigation.
Methods
A search of California Departmont of Fish and Game's(CDFG) California Natural Divorsity
Database (CNDDB) was conducted for the USGS Linden and Waterloo topographic
quadrangles. We also reviewod the December 10, 1997 Use Permit Applicotion
comment letter from CDFG and the Species Lists provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service (USFWS) with their December 23, 1997 letter (copy attached). This information
was used to identify specles which have been previously documented in the project
vicinity.
The field survey was conducted from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on February 18. 1998 by
myself and Richard Crowe. The survey consisted of walking around the site making
observations of habitat conditions. surrounding land uses, and plant and wildlife
species. We conducted a search for vernal pools or other jurisdictional wetlands.
sensitive species, and suitable habitat for sensitive specles.
Results
GENCRAL SETTING: The 20-ocre project site is located within an 80-acre parcel south of
I-larney Lane approximately 8 miles east of Highway 99 In In T3N, R8E, Section 20 of the
USGS 7.5-minute Linden topographic quadrangle (Figure 1) The entire project site is
irrigated pasture which is gently sloping to the north. Land uses surrounding the site
include pasture to the south, west, and east, and a continuation of irrigated pasture to
the north.
VEGETATION: The site is vegetated with non-native annual grassland species such as
oats (Avena sp.), bromes (Bromus diondrus, 8. hordeaceus) yellow star thistle
(Cenfaureo solshtialls), storksbill (Lrodlum botrys). yellow clover (Trifolium dubium). rind
black mustard (Brossico nigro). There are no trees or shrubs of any kind in the projecl
site. There are a few trees north of the site surrounding a residence along Harney Lane.
as well as a variety of ornamental snrubs. Plant species documented on the site are
listed In Table 1.
1300 W.
