August 2, 2004
To: San Joaquin County -y AV-3
Community Development Department O
Attn: John Funderburg, Contact Person
1810 East Hazelton
Stockton, Ca. 95205
Subject: Application PA0400250 (QX),APN/Address 249-050-17/
22469 S. Henry Road, Escalon. Applicant: George Reed, Inc. (Quarry Excavation)
Please accept this letter as our protest against the above referenced application.
A Quarry operation impacts our environment by increasing hazardous dust,
hazardous gas and/or diesel fumes, vibrations to our structures (geological damages),
contamination of ground water, and lowering of the ground water level, excessive
noise and increased traffic.
It is an invasion of our right to the peaceful enjoyment of our property and
our lives for twelve years. It creates an ugly, noisy excavation business
in our very front and back yards -- Something we have to look at and contend with
every day of our lives.
This is a very populated and developed area.. The zoning of A-40 is not
reflective of the area. If the zoning were correct --Rural Agriculture, this application
would not be a considered use.
People in this area already deal with the harmful agricultural impacts to our health and
environment. To allow further impact to our health, safety, and welfare should
not be permitted. The Quarry operational season coincides with peak agricultural
periods of nut harvesting when noise, dust and sprays, are at the maximum tolerable levels.
Name / Address
/ p h a n
1.
