Mr. Kevin Swanson
San Joaquin County Community Development Department
1810 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
In response to the request for a permit at 2314 Hollenbeck, I have a variety of concerns and objections.
Fifteen years ago I moved from North Stockton purchasing a home and acreage for the location of a
quite site of country living. The property was located with a low flow of traffic and void of smoky North
Stockton skies. The very things that are valued in the purchase of a substantial investment are in danger
from the pending facility proposed.
Traffic will increase, which leads to traffic noise and other traffic concerns. The quaint idea of knowing
your neighbor-coming down your road will be gone and replaced with security concerns of does this
person really belong here.
The bend at Hollenbeck in inclement weather when I leave for work, in predawn hours would be a
greater safety concern with increased traffic, also as would the corner of ighway 4 and Hollenbeck. The
stop sign at Highway 4 is down more than up from trucks unable to safely make the turn.
Another concern is the increase pollutants added to the air from the proposed new site from production
and accidents. On several occasions the dairy located on Highway 4 has accidentally caught a
mature/compose pile matter on fire and was unable to extinguish for days. The smoky skies were
unacceptable and the S1 Air Pollution had to get involved. The air is at times fouled by the dairy and not
to mention the files. To add another potential factor is irresponsible in the protection of clean air, which
comes to my next concern:water.
How can this board approve the possible input of pollutants into our water table? The pending facility is
located between two water sources Duck Creek and Potter Creek. The water has tested, high in nitrate
at our location, documents presented upon request. So how can a new facility be added to the
immediate area?
I understand the right to farm, but this is a new facility borderline in my definition of farming. The
facility would definitely not be an improvement to the area. It would devalue the surrounding
properties values and also, add pollutants to the air and water. As an allergy sufferer the facility
changes my living environment negatively and raises another health question of potential bird flu
exposure. Water and air are two very precious resources that once fouled it takes a long time to reverse
the damage done. I encourage the board not to allow the facility to be added on Hollenbeck.
Respectfully submitted,
- a6h&sn V Q e
Kathleen V. Bennett
2289 S. Hollenbeck Road
