SAN JOAQUIN FARM BUREAU FEDERATION
MEETING TODAY'S CHALLENGES/PLANNING FOR TOMORROW
RECEIVED
San Joaquin County
Community Development Department MAR 2 5 2014 March 25, 2014
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue San Joaquin County
Stockton, CA 95205 Community Development
Attn: Stephanie Stowers
Re: PA-1400042(SA)
Dear Ms. Stowers:
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation is a private, not for profit volunteer organization that
advocates on behalf of 4,000 members within San Joaquin County. We are dedicated to the
promotion and advancement of the agricultural industry and we follow county planning decisions
closely to ensure the viability of the industry.
We write to you in support of PA-1400042, a site approval application to build a new
agricultural processing facility in Manteca, CA. This is a large scale expansion of an already
existing operation and expands the footprint of the amazing agricultural commodities grown in
San Joaquin County as they will be able to process more produce, which leads to an increased
scope of distribution. Growth and expansion of agricultural processing facilities increases our
counties competiveness in the global market as we are able to grow and process our commodities
without the added expense of increased transportation.
Family farms are facing increased regulatory demands every day and the only way for farming to
remain feasible is by exploiting opportunities to expand and modernize facilities and equipment.
For the foregoing reason, we strongly recommend that the San Joaquin County Planning
Commission approve this application to build a new agricultural processing facility to serve the
needs of the agricultural community.
Sincerely,
President
3290 NORTH AD ART ROAD•STOCKTON,CA•95215•(209)931-4931 •(209)931-1433 Fax
WWW.SJFB.ORG
