San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department DIRECTOR
? —f Donna Heran, REHS
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
W Stockton, California 95205-6232 PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Robert McClellon, REHS
Jeff Carruesco, REHS, RDI
C4' .•....•i`P Website: www.sjgov.org/ehd Kasey Foley,REHS
<<F o R
Phone: (209) 468-3420 Linda Turkatte, REHS
Fax: (209) 464-0138
November 7, 2012
Messrs, Kirk Larson, PG, and Robert Trommer, CHG
State Water Resources Control Board
Division of Financial Assistance
1001 1 Street
Sacramento CA 95814
Subject: 6732 Highway 88 E, Stockton, CA
Annual Five-Year Review Update Response CUF Claim No. 13455
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed the
fifth annual five-year review update letter- dated July 2012 from Kirk Larson of the State Water
Quality Control Board (SWQCB) Cleanup Fund (CUF) for the above-referenced site. The CUF
recommends that the EHD consider the site for closure.
The EHD recently received on GeoTracker the analytical results for three soil gas samples
collected in August 2012 to evaluate the risk posed by vapor intrusion from residual impacted
soil; all results appear to pass the Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) posted by the San
Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality control Board, and are inferred by the EHD to pose an
acceptable level of health risk. As the vapor extraction appears to have reached its practicable
limits and the impact to groundwater appears to be delineated, the EHD will direct preparation of
a closure report with the soil gas survey report; anticipating favorable results, the EHD will
consider and initiate the closure process.
Questions or comments should be directed to Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-3442 or to Nuel
Henderson at (209) 468-3436.
Sincerely,
Harlin Knoll, REHS Nuel Henderson, PG
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist Engineering Geologist
2012 Annual 5-Year Review Update Response CUF Claim No. 13455.doc
