Weber Street, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, CA 95202 <br /> Subject: Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation at Three Palms Grocery located <br /> at 6732 East Highway 88, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms. Lagorio: <br /> ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) reviewed a letter issued to Ms. Lolly Bozzano on December 30, <br /> 2004 by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD). The letter included a <br /> summary of the EHD review of the "Summary Report of Supplemental Subsurface Investigation" <br /> dated October 18, 2004, prepared by ATC. The EHD concluded that additional groundwater <br /> monitoring wells screened in a lower water bearing zone are warranted due to the continuing <br /> presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and <br /> xylenes (BTEX) in groundwater samples collected from monitoring well MW-1 and the presence <br /> of 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in groundwater samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-3. <br /> Additionally, the EHD stated that the three current monitoring wells have been situated above the <br /> water table during the third quarter 2004 quarterly groundwater monitoring event. Based on their <br /> review, the EHD requested a work plan to investigate the lateral and vertical extent of the <br /> contamination at the site and to evaluate the feasibility of vapor extraction as a remedial <br /> alternative for cleanup of the site. <br /> In response to the EHD letter, ATC has prepared this workplan on behalf of Ms. Lolly Bozzano <br /> to perform additional subsurface investigation activities at the above referenced site. The <br /> activities proposed at the project site are described in detail in the following paragraphs. <br /> SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is located on the northeast side of Fairchild Lane and the southeast side of Highway 88 in <br /> Stockton, California, as shown on Figure 1.
