Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation at Three Palms Grocery located
at 6732 East Highway 88, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) reviewed a letter issued to Ms. Lolly Bozzano on December 30,
2004 by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD). The letter included a
summary of the EHD review of the "Summary Report of Supplemental Subsurface Investigation"
dated October 18, 2004, prepared by ATC. The EHD concluded that additional groundwater
monitoring wells screened in a lower water bearing zone are warranted due to the continuing
presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
xylenes (BTEX) in groundwater samples collected from monitoring well MW-1 and the presence
of 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in groundwater samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-3.
Additionally, the EHD stated that the three current monitoring wells have been situated above the
water table during the third quarter 2004 quarterly groundwater monitoring event. Based on their
review, the EHD requested a work plan to investigate the lateral and vertical extent of the
contamination at the site and to evaluate the feasibility of vapor extraction as a remedial
alternative for cleanup of the site.
In response to the EHD letter, ATC has prepared this workplan on behalf of Ms. Lolly Bozzano
to perform additional subsurface investigation activities at the above referenced site. The
activities proposed at the project site are described in detail in the following paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located on the northeast side of Fairchild Lane and the southeast side of Highway 88 in
Stockton, California, as shown on Figure 1. The location is a commercial and agricultural area
and the site is currently occupied by Three Palms Grocery.
w:\14885\workplan-\wkpin2005.doe I
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
