CV-ATC
.
A S S O C I A T E S I N C
Short Term Vapor Extraction Test
After the long term VET is completed, two short term VETS will be performed on the adjacent
vapor wells, and the test will last one to two hours. These tests will be performed to collect
additional data to assist in determining the effective radius of influence, and to determine the petroleum
hydrocarbon concentrations extracted from this well. The same parameters will be monitored as in
the long term VET. Two influent vapor samples will be collected from the vapor well for
laboratory analysis of TPHg, BTEX, and fuel oxygenates. One vapor sample will be collected at
the beginning of each test. Vapor samples will be analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and fuel oxygenates by
EPA method TO-14.
Vapor Sample Collection
Vapor samples will be collected through a 1/4-inch Teflon sample line connected to a stainless steel
wellhead fitting, and will be collected in Tedlar sample bags. Teflon tubing will be used to minimize
sample loss through adsorption and the possibility of distorted results from sample lines contaminated
by previous test runs.
Report Preparation
Upon completion of the subsurface investigation activities, a summary report will be prepared for
submittal to the EHD. The report will include a description of all field activities, laboratory
analytical results, and boring logs. Additionally, the report will include updated lateral and
vertical extents of hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater and the evaluation for the feasibility of
vapor extraction by pilot testing.
All work described in this workplan will be performed under the direction of a California
Registered Professional Engineer. All work will be performed in accordance with ATC's Site
Safety Plan (SSP) and Quality Control/Quality Assurance Plan on file with the EHD.
Projected Schedule
Once approval of this workplan has been received, ATC will schedule drilling activities. ATC will
notify the EHD at least 48 hours prior to beginning any field activities. The summary report will
be submitted to HHD approximately six weeks after the completion of field activities.
w:\14885\workplans\wkpin2005.doc 6
