(VkTc
--
A S S O C I A T E S I N C
Well Development and Groundwater Sampling
Measurement of depth to water in all wells will be completed to evaluate the direction and
magnitude of the groundwater gradient beneath the site. The new wells will be developed using
surge and bail techniques until the produced water is relatively sediment free. Prior to the
collection of groundwater samples, a minimum of three well volumes (casing and sand pack) will
be purged. Temperature, pH, water elevation, and electric conductivity will be measured and
allowed to stabilize. Water samples will be collected using disposable bailers, one dedicated to
each well.
Groundwater samples collected from all monitoring wells will be submitted using chain-of-
custody record to a State-certified laboratory. Groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPHg,
BTEX, and oxygenate fuel additives. Purge water will be stored in 55-gallon drums approved for
hazardous liquid storage pending laboratory analysis.
Supply Well
As requested in PHS/EHD's October 9, 1998 correspondence, ATC will sample the on-site
domestic well. The well will be sampled from the well's existing sampling port or from the
nearest aperture. The collected water sample will be analyzed for volatile organic compounds
(VOCs) by a State-certified laboratory using EPA Method 524.2.
Receptor Survey
ATC will conduct a well survey and provide locations of all agricultural, industrial, domestic,
municipal, and other wells within a 2,000 foot radius of the site. This will include a review of the
Department of Water Resources well construction log database in Sacramento, PHS/BHD
records, and City of Stockton records. Pumping influences will be evaluated with respect to
observed receptors.
Report Preparation
Upon completion of the well installation and development activities, a summary report will be
prepared for submittal to PHS/EHD. The report will include a description of all field activities,
laboratory analytical results, well boring logs, and well survey results.
All work described in this workplan will be performed under the direction of a California
Registered Professional Engineer. All work will be performed in accordance with ATC's Site
Safety Plan (SSP) contained in Attachment 2 and Quality Control/Quality Assurance Plan
contained in Attachment 3.
w:\I4885\reports\wkpin.doc 4
