Box 2009 • (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) •Stockton.California 95201 q;F 6 t
(209)468.3400
December 4, 1992
CLIFFORD A HUBER
P O BOX 363
CLEMENTS CA 95227
RE: CLEMENTS AUTO SERVICE SITE CODE: 1624
18633 E HWY 88, CLEMENTS
In light of San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division's (PHS/EHD) recent discussions with
Terry Brazell, of the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) ,
we have reevaluated the August 29, 1989 closure of the underground
storage tanks (Tanks 11624-01; #1624-02; #1624-03 ; and #1624-04)
removed from the above referenced address.
Although the soil samples collected from beneath the four
underground storage tanks (UST) exceeded recognized holding times
for laboratory analysis, the PHS/EHD representative present during
the removal of the tanks did not observe odor or soil
discoloration.
Therefore, this letter confirms the completion of the tank removal
investigation for the four underground storage tanks removed August
29, 1989 at the above site.
The fifth tank (Tank 11624-05) removed November 6, 1990 indicated
the presence of contaminants which exceeded the allowable limits of
total lead pursuant to Section 22-66699, California Code of
Regulations. The former underground storage tank (UST) cannot be
recommended for final closure without further investigation to
determine the full extent of the soil and/or groundwater problem.
Tank 11624-05 will remain listed on PHS/EHD' s Contaminated Site
List until documentation is submitted that identifies a different
property owner at the time the tank was removed.
Please be advised that this letter does not relieve you of any
liability under the California Health and Safety code or Water Code
for past, present, or future operations at the site. Nor does it
relieve you of the responsibility to clean up existing, additional
or previously unidentified conditions at the site which cause or
threaten to cause pollution or nuisance or otherwise pose a threat
to water quality of public health.
A t]WWM of Sao JOE* fOUnaY Beath CaM Sen=
