Highway 88
Lockeford, California
NGA Project No. 10-90-1.04
i Dear Ms. Hinson:
i
The purpose of this letter is to present a plan for sampling
i stockpiled.soil at the subject site. The purpose of sampling will
be to confirm what we anticipate will be very low or non-detectible
levels of petroleum hydrocarbons prior to off -4 to disposal of the
soil There.are approximately.400 to 600 yards of soil stockpiled
on-site from thearemaval of Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) from ,
the site:in date March, 1990. This soil has been aerating since
its removal from thetank basin under the provisions of Rule 409
t (uncontrolled aeration) of the Air Pollution Mules and Regalations
of the San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District.
Our proposed soil sampling plan consists of taking a total of four
composite .soil samples (a sample every 100 to 250 yards ) from the
stockpile at 'the locations shown on Figure 2. soil samples will
be taken from a depth of one to two feet beneath the surface of the
stockpiled A total of five .samples'.will be taken for each 100 to
150 yards of soil° The samples will be collected in 40 milliliter
glass .vials and stared on ice prior to .and during shipmentto a
California certified laboratory for analysis. Proper chain-of-
custody documentation will accompany the samples .
Samples designated.A-E (for each 100 to 150 yards3of soil) will be
composited in the laboratory and analyzed for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) ; 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC) ; ethylene
dibromide- (EDB) ; and total purgeable hydrocarbons.. (TPH) by EPA
method 524..2/8260. Results of soil sampling from beneath the USTs
have.-shown-that--lead-is--nota_concern-in--these-sol--ls.---.-Laboratory-- ------ -
reports for soils samples taken beneath the removed USTs are
enclosed. .
3050 Fite Circle,Suite 101 Sacramento,California 95827 (916)361.8095
(916)362-1380 FAX
