Tasks performed
during this phase included measuring depths to water and
monitoring wells MW-1
subjectively analyzing ground water in
through MW-4, purging and sampling ground water from the
® monitoring wells, and calculating the ground-water gradient at
the site. The locations of the monitoring wells are depicted on
the Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2) .
During a previous phase of work, Applied GeoSystems installed
four 2-inch-inner-diameter ground-water monitoring wells at the
® site. The results of that phase of our ongoing subsurface
environmental investigation were reported in AGS Report No.
87048-1, dated July 13, 1987.
At your request, a geologist from our office was present on the
site on April 27, 1988, to sample ground water from the wells. ;
® The depth to the ground-water surface in each monitoring well was
measured to the nearest 0.01-foot with a Solint'water-level
indicator. The ground water was found to be approximately 2.7
feet deeper in the recent sampling event than previously
measured. The water-level data, summarized in Table 1, were used
to construct a Ground-Water Potentiometric Surface Map across the
(Plate-P-3)- - -Calculations-of ground-water:eleyativns-
indicate that the direction of ground-water flow at the site is
south 25 degrees west and the average gradient at the time of
