NW .i
OLD RIVER GOLF COURSE
Page No. 7
and 20 were assumed. It is recommended that the rough graded
proposed roadways be observed by our office and if required,
additional R-value tests performed in order to obtain a
representative design value. Pavement sections have been designed
based on various traffic indexes. A traffic index of 4.0
represents light automobile traffic and parking, 5.0 represents
light truck and heavy automobile traffic, and 6 .0 represents
moderate truck traffic. If traffic indexes are different then
these our office should be contacted and new designs can be
provided. Designs are based on the fourth edition of the CalTrans
Highway Design Manual. The pavement sections are presented next.
PAVEMENT SECTION DESIGN
Pavement Section-inches
Subgrade Traffic Asphalt Aggregate Aggregate
"R Value Index Traffic Concrete Base Subbase
5 4.0 auto 2 . 0 9. 0 --
20 4. 0 it 2.0 6 .5 --
5 5.0 auto/lt 2.5 11 . 0 --
truck
20 5 .0 " 2 . 5 8 . 5 --
5 6.0 mod truck 3 . 0 6 .0 8. 0
20 6 .0 " 3 .0 10. 5
The paving materials must conform to the requirements of the
State of California, Department of Transportation, Standard
Specification. Type B asphaltic concrete and class 2 aggregate
base and subbase should be used.
The pavement area subgrade should be stripped of all organic
matter, loose soil, etc. , and any required cuts made. A minimum of
6 inches of compacted subgrade should be provided beneath the
pavement sections. The subgrade should be compacted to dry
densities in excess of 95 percent of the maximum dry density
obtainable in the ASTM D1557 Compaction Test. The subgrade should
have a minimum design R-value.
VIII LIMITATIONS
The recommendations of this report are based on the
information provided regarding the proposed construction as well as
- P VERSp
s
- Z W
Assoc.
P
