L
Based on our findings, the subsurface soils encountered in boring B-1 consisted predominately
of low to moderately plastic sandy silt with scattered gravel to a depth of about 3%2 feet below
the existing site grade, underlain by clayey sand with scattered gravel to a depth of about 6 feet.
These soils were underlain by interbedded layers of moderately plastic sandy clay and clayey
sand with varying amounts of gravel to the maximum depth explored.
The soils encountered in boring B-2 generally consisted of low to moderately plastic sandy silt
to a depth of about 2 feet, underlain by sandy clay with scattered gravel to a depth of about 8
` feet below the existing ground surface. These soils were underlain by clayey sand to a depth of
about 10 feet, further underlain by silty sand with varying amounts of gravel to the maximum
depth of the boring.
In boring B-3, the soils encountered consisted predominately of interbedded strata of low to
` moderately plastic sandy silt and sandy clay to a depth of about 13 feet below the existing site
grade. These soils were underlain by interbedded strata of clayey and silty sand to the
maximum depth explored. Gravel was observed in a strata of silty sand encountered from
` about 17'/2 to 21 feet below the existing ground surface.
A more-detailed description of the subsurface conditions encountered during our field
` investigation are presented on the Logs of Borings, Plates 4 through 6.
Based on the Soil Survey of San Joaquin County, California published by the U.S. Department
of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service (1992), the soils vary within the study area. The soil
series and attributes mapped at the site are given in the table below:
` Map Soil Percolation Available Water Organic
Symbols Name Characteristics Capacity, pH Content,
inches/inch Percent
118 Capay Severe 0.14-0.16 6.6-8.4 1-2
119 Capay Severe 0.14-0.16 6.6-8.4 1-2
123 Carbona Severe 0.13-0.18 7.4-8.4 2-5
156 El Solyo Severe 0.14-0.20 6.6-8.4 <2
223 Reiff Moderate 0.11-0.19 6.6-8.4 1-2
252 Stomar Severe 0.15-0.18 6.6-8.4 <2
268 Vernalis Severe 0.11-0.18 6.6-8.4 2-5
s 6. PERCOLATION TESTING
Shallow and deep percolation test holes were installed in each of the proposed parcels using the
same drill rig as used for the soil profile borings only equipped with a 6-inch diameter auger.
The approximate percolation test locations are presented on Plate 1.
