Water Sample
Because the well is out of service, no water sample was collected from the Site.
Soil Profile and Geologic Information
The Site is depicted on the Prelim+n4ry Geologic map of Cenozoic Deposits of the
Bellota Quadrangle, California (Marchand and Atwater, 1979). The Site is depicted
within three map units-. Holocene alluvium, the Riverbank Formation lower unit, and the
Turlock Lake Formation -(Plate 7). Holocene alluvium consists of channel and levee
deposits. The Riverbank Formation lower unit is described as "arkosic alluvium,
probably glacial outwash, and locally-derived sandy alluvium; chiefly _sand." The
Turlock Lake Formation is described as "arkosic alluvium, probably glacial outwash in
part; chiefly sand with some silt and minor gravel."
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the USDA Web
Soil Survey to be composed of Kingdon fine sandy loam, Ramoth sandy loam, and Vina
fine sandy loam, with gravel pits located on the southern portion of the Site (Plate 8)
(USDA, 2009). The table below presents some selected properties of these soils:
Table 1.
