Soil Profile and Geologic Information The Site is depicted on the Preliminary geologic map of Cenozoic deposits of the Clay area, California (Bartow and Marchand, 1979). The Site is depicted primarily within the Laguna Formation map unit, with an area on its eastern side falling within the Mehrten Formation unit, and a small area of the Modesto Formation upper member near the southeast corner of the Site (Plate 7). The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the USDA Web Soil Survey to be composed of Corning-Redding complex, Kaseberg loamy sand, Kaseberg fine sandy loam, Kaseberg loam, Redding loam, Redding gravelly loam, and Yellowlark gravelly loam (Plate 8) (USDA, 2009).
