ENGEO <br /> INCORPORATED <br /> 2.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> 2.1 Purpose of Phase One Environmental Site Assessment <br /> The purpose of this phase one environmental site assessment is to identify recognized <br /> environmental conditions associated with the property. As defined in the American Society for <br /> r, Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard Practice E 1527-00, a Recognized Environmental <br /> Condition (REC) is "the presence or likely presence of any hazardous substances or petroleum <br /> ` products on a property under conditions that indicate an existing release, a past release,or a material <br /> threat of a release of any hazardous substances or petroleum products into structures on the property <br /> ` or into the ground,groundwater, or surface water of the property". <br /> 2.2 Detailed Scone of Services <br /> The scope of services performed included the following: <br /> • A review of publicly available and practically reviewable standard local, state and federal <br /> environmental record sources. <br /> • A review of publicly available and practically reviewable standard historical sources, aerial <br /> photographs, fire insurance rrnps and physical setting sources. <br /> • A reconnaissance of the property to review site use and current conditions. The reconnaissance <br /> was conducted to check for the storage, use, production or disposal of hazardous or potentially <br /> hazardous materials. <br /> r • An interview with the current property owner. <br /> • Preparation of this report with our findings and conclusions. <br /> 5943.5.001.02 <br /> July 28, 2004 2 <br />
