The report is an
addendum to a previously submitted assessment of gravel at the Silva Trucking Yard on Manthey Road
in Stockton. The Silva Trucking Yard is an approximately 115,000 square foot lot covered with 6 to 9
inches of gravel. Approximately 25 percent of the gravel is composed of waste tile from MonierLifetile.
Previously, waste tile from MonierLifetile at a different site was classified designated waste due to
soluble concentrations of TPH-diesel and hexavalent chromium. Staff commented on the original
assessment of the gravel and requested that the background, parent material and soil samples should be
re-analyzed for hexavalent chromium at lower detection limits. Additionally, a sample of storm water
was to be analyzed for TPH-diesel and hexavalent chromium.
The addendum reports on the requested additional sampling,Hexavalent chromium was not detected in
the background sample, the five soil samples and from the parent material. Low concentrations of TPH-
diesel were detected in one soil sample and in the parent material, the background sample and four soil
samples were clean. Hexavalent chromium and TPH-diesel were not detected in the storm water sample.
Based on these results staff does not believe that the gravel in the Silva Trucking Yard is a threat to
groundwater or surface water quality. There is no need for further investigation or remediation of waste
tile in gravel at this site.
If you have any questions please call me at(916)464-4614.
Ross D.
