MANTHEY
ROAD, FRENCH CAMP, CALIFORNIA
` Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board staff(staff)has reviewed the report Limited Soil
Assessment Silva Trucking Yard submitted by Kleinfelder Inc. on 23 March 2005. The report discusses
results of soil investigation at the Silva Trucking Yard on Manthey Road in Stockton. The Silva
r Trucking Yard is an approximately 115,000 square foot lot covered with 6 to 9 inches of gravel.
Approximately 25 percent of the gravel is composed of waste tile from MonierLifetile. Previously,
waste tile from MonierLifetile at a different site was classified designated waste due to soluble
concentrations of TPH-diesel and hexavalent chromium. Staff has the following comments about the
report:
1. Soluble TPH-diesel was detected in the sample of parent material (hand picked tile from the
gravel) and in soil sample L2-0". TPH-diesel in the other 4 soil samples was non-detect.
V 2. All samples,background,parent material and 5-soil samples,were non-detect for hexavalent
chromium. However, detection limits ranged from 50 to 500 ppb, and the water quality goal for
hexavalent chromium is 21 ppb. Because of the high detection limits, staff is uncertain if
chromium contamination occurs at this site or not.
3. In order to cornplete the site assessment all background, parent material and soil samples should
be re-analyzed for hexavalent chromium. Additionally, a sample of storm water should be
collected from the site and analyzed for TPH-diesel and hexavalent chromium. Results should
be submitted as an addendum to the report to San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department and Central Valley Regional Quality Control Board.
6.
6.
APR 0 2005
California Environmental Protection Agency
, l'ii zSEN,SiMwOC!t G tIEG^E(K;lit.
Qd Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real Every Californian needs to take immediate action to reduce energy consumption.
For a list of simple ways you can reduce demand and cut your energy costs, see our Web-site at http://www.swreb.ca.gov/mgeb5
