geographical distribution of the congregation of church members consists of I I% of the congregation
living on the north-western side of Interstate 205 and south of Grant Line Road, 33% of the
congregation living on the south-eastern side of Interstate 205 and north of Eleventh Street, and 56% of
the congregation living south of Eleventh Street.
TRIP GENERATION
A forecast of the traffic volumes expected to be generated by the project site were calculated based upon
information contained in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) publication Trip Generation 5th
Edition and February 1995 Update to the 5th Edition. Table 3 contains a listing of the applicable trip
_ generation rates. Table 4 contains the expected trip generation volumes for weekday daily and peak hour
(AM and PM) periods, as well as Sunday daily and project peak hour periods. The project's Sunday
peak-hour of trip generation is expected to occur between 9:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. (Source: ITE Trip
.. Generation, Fifth Edition.) For the study intersections, the "Sunday peak hour of traffic" is expected to
occur between 10:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. For worst-case analysis, the Sunday peak hour of background
traffic and Sunday peak hour of project trip generation were assumed to occur concurrently between
10:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M.
TABLE 3
TRIP GENERATION RATES
(Unit of Descriptor: per 1000 sq. feet)
PPE Sunday Project
Land Land- ADT AM Peak Hour PM Peak Hour Peak Hour
Use Use Code Weekdav Sunday In Out Total In Out Total In Out Total
Church 560 9.76 36.59 0.49 0.30 0.79 0.43 0.36 0.79 3.96 6.40 10.36
Source: ITE Trip Generation, Fifth Edition.
TABLE 4
TRIP GENERATION VOLUMES
Sunday Project
Quantity ADT AM Peak Hour PM Peak Hour Peak Hour'
Land Use (sq. ft.) For modeling worst-case impacts at the project's driveway intersections with Muddle Road, a 75%parking oc=;p= .vas
assumed during the project's Sunday peak hour, resulting in 225 trips entering and 225 trips tearing the project during
the Sunday peak hour. This rate (although higher than the ITE recommended rate) was applied for a conservative
analysis.
TRIP DISTRIBUTION AND ASSIGNMENT
The assignment of project related traffic to the adjacent roadway system was based upon the
_ distribution of existing church congregation, existing travel patterns, and the geographical location of
the proposed project (in relation to the existing roadway system). Based upon discussions with the
applicant, the directional trip distribution presented in Figure 4A was assumed for the project's Sunday
peak hour of trip generation. The trip distribution presented in Figure 4A was also assumed acceptable
for weekday AM and PM peak hour periods.
Trinity Baptist Church Project Page 9
Traffic Study
