C. Soil Analytical Chemical Test Results
Soil samples for analytical testing were retrieved from the depths referenced above. The attached
Soil Analysis Report illustrates the test results. Analyzed constituents relating to nitrate loading
include the organic matter content of the soil,pH, Cation Exchanae Capacit(CEC), and the
tro'en
w contribution of nt g
nitrate-nitrogen content. The organic matter is low,
in 1
catin a to c
release. The nH is sontewilat acldu„at the surface but alkalii, at the deeper a ths. This alkalingy
appears tp haye influenced nitrification positivel . The CEC indicates the soil potential to retain
alturlonium molecules that are found in septic system effluent. The CEC has a high potential to
inhibit nitrification, and is generally high. Of significance is the nitrate-nitro&en concentrations at
each depth, revealinga high concentration at 5 feet, but significantly decreasing throughout the
deeper depths. This may be attributable to denitrification. The Table below summarizes the
important soil parameters analyzed:
TABLE i
SUMMARY OF SOIL ANALYSIS
xt
DEPTH OF SAND SILT CLAY SOIL DENSITY USDA/USCS NI'rRATF:N i
SAMPLE % % "/° SOIL TEXTURES CONTENT
✓ 5 Ft 21'%, 42% 36% 19 Blowx/Ft Cloy 1-00ttJ3llty Lean('Isy 51 ppm
I Stiff Density
10 Ft+ 2 7 + 43 Blosss'Ft ('loy Loont/SBty Lean Clay 8 ppm
Very Hard Density
15 FI 39% 36% 21"/u 18 Blows/Ft Loaln/Silt 5 pp'ti
Nledium Densil)'
20 Ft 25% 56% 18% 8 Islwyn Silt LoandSitt 9 pP'n
Loose Density
III. GROUNDWATER TEST RESULTS
iThe depth to the water table was measured in the exploratory boring to be approximately 22 feet
below existing grade (,fromm lite top_of ilegmbankment). It is evident that groundwater directional
flow is in an east direction - toward the lake- since sand is being excavated from the floor of the
lake, which is drawing groundwater into the lake. Groundwater flow under the embankment,
which can be considered a dam, is complex and can best be described by flow nets which depict
flow under the weight of the embankment.
It is our understanding that the water source for the toilet will come from the Brown Sand Office
well, which is on the same parcel as the subject business. Consequently, this domestic water
supply was tested for analysis, with the results discussed below. Bottled drinking water will be
provided in the office. Hand washing will consist of"waterless" hand cleaners that are both
antibiotic and fofniulated for grease removal (e.g., GoJo Hand Soap).
Page-4-
"-- Chesney Consulting
