K L E I N F E L D E R
SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY
GOODLAND LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION
21080 MOUNTAIN HOUSE PARKWAY
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
1. GENERAL
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading
study for the Goodland Landscape Construction office building located in San Joaquin
County, California. The Assessor's Parcel Number of the property is 209-150-26.''An\
aerial photograph showing the approximate site boundaries is presented on Plate 1. ,-
The purpose of our study was to determine the suitability of the property for septic tank
usage. The study was performed in general accordance to the requirements of
Section 9-10100© of San Joaquin County Ordinance. The following sections include
background information regarding the project site and the proposed development, past
and present uses of the site, existing septic tank performance and permitting, and the
groundwater conditions in the project area. In addition, discussions regarding our
investigative procedures and the site conditions encountered during our field
exploration are included. Finally, the results of our percolation tests, nitrate loading
calculations, and subsequent conclusions are presented.
2. SITE DESCRIPTION
At the time of our study, the subje1.55-a re parcel contained a residence that will be
converted into an office. Propos dev lopment of the site includes an asphalt
driveway and parking area and a 2,500 square foot shop building. The entire site was
approximately 10 feet lower in elevation than the road to the west. The property was
bound to the north and east by agricultural farmland, to the south by a pasture for
cattle grazing and dairy, and to the west by Mountain House Parkway. The existing
parcel is zoned AG-40 (General Agricultural).
A septic/leach field system is located behind and east of the building; the exact
location is unknown to us. A well is located near the southwest corner of the building.
We understand that the structure will be used as office space for approximately 5
employees daily. The remainder of the site will be used for vehicle parking and
equipment storage. According to the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater
Disposal Standards (page 13 of 25), day workers at offices should be considered to
have a water use of 30 gallons per shift per day.
For the purpose of our nitrate loading calculation, we have estimated the average
waste/sewage flow per week for the project site as follows assuming 1 eight hour shift
per day and a 5 day work week:
,5 pe le per da x 0 gal er pers x 5 days 750gal/week
86892.G01/ST07R953 November 21,2007
0 2007 Kleinfelder Page 1 of 7
