MOUNTAM HOUSE PROPOSED MACHADO TENTATIVE MAP 4. ENVIRONMENTALCHFCKLIST
4.13 PUsuCSERVICES
would be constructed. In response to population increases, the library would be expanded to
provide additional space. At the buildout of the entire MHMP area, a library totaling 21,000
SF would be operating in the Town Center Area, located in the Specific Plan I area.
Equipment, books, and periodicals would be provided according to SSJCPL standards
(EDAW, 2005b).
Specific Plan III includes the development of a community college that would include a
library that would primarily serve college students, but would also be open to the public.
However, this library would not provide services targeted at the general public and is not
considered to be a public library for the purposes of this analysis of public services.
Demand for additional library space generated by the proposed project would be minimal by
itself, but would be cumulative as other neighborhoods in the Mountain House Community
are developed. Library services and facilities, although over-extended, could be met, in the
interim,by the existing Tracy Branch Library and bookmobile services to the Mountain
House Community until the branch library is constructed in the Town Center. The proposed
project would result in a less-than-significant impact regarding the provision of library
services.
Childcare Facilities
The Master Plan requires a minimum of three, one-acre childcare centers within the
Mountain House community located at appropriate, easily accessible locations. These
centers probably will be provided at elementary schools like the existing center at Wicklund _
School. A second childcare center probably will be located in Neighborhood G. In addition,
childcare facilities could be provided at neighborhood centers, at the Mountain House
Business Park, and adjacent to churches and commercial uses. With these plans for childcare _
centers, the impact of the proposed project on childcare facilities would be less than
significant.
Mitigation Measures
No mitigation measures are required.
SOURCES OF INFORMATION
Associated Engineering, Inc. 2006.
