LNovember 8, 2004
NOA Project Number: E0401 10A
4.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
LX61 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 in the appendix
Lof this report.
A--6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
LOne shallow and one deep percolation test were conducted on each proposed parcel of the Site, for
a total of 12 shallow and 12 deep percolation tests.
L6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
L A total of 12 shallow and 12 deep soil borings were advanced on the Site with a truck-mounted B53
augur rig on September 14, 15, and 16,2004.
L A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel"were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. Several feet
of"pea gravel' were backfilled in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred on September 21 and 22,2004. The depth of
water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring.
X6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
LAfter the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact onSentember 22 and
23, 2004. The deep holes at P-2 and P-5 were found to bei on September 23, 2004. Both holes
at P-7 and P-10, the deep holes at P-9 and P-12,and the shallow hole at P-11 were found to be dry
/ on September 22, 2004. Standing water was observed in the remaining holes.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
LPercolation tests were conducted for the borings on September 22 and 23,2004 in accordance with
the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for
each hole. The final half-hour of each four-hour percolation test was observed by Ms.Lisa Medina,
Senior Registered Environmental Health Inspector,EHD.
L
L
. g
.,A4L
