MOUNTAIN HOUSE MASTER PLAN <br /> 3.1.E Neighborhood Structure and Village Centers <br /> Mountain House is organized into 12 distinct nalghborhoods of raughly the same size, <br /> Including nina4mri family neigf borhoodsare; two mixed active adult and family <br /> neighbarhoods„ted-ene aeive aE - egghboFb�g# Farrrily neighborhoods shall <br /> contain a Centrally located K-6 school, a Neighborhood Park, and a Neighl3orhood <br /> CommerciM afea, serving as the center of neighborhood activities. The two mixed <br /> active adult and family neighborhoods, Neighborhoods J and K. will share one K-S <br /> school between there. The Lammersville Unified School district has determined that <br /> a K-8 school in Neigh borhoad J is not warranted based On the nlirnber of K-B students <br /> expected to be generated in Neighborhood J- Students from Neighborhood J wilt <br /> attend the K-8 school In Neighborhood K. NeighboOioods A and 13 are combined to <br /> accommodate a college campus in the southwestern corner of the community, and <br /> share a consolidated Neighborhood Center. Neighborhocids will he planned to create <br /> a distinct Sense of identity and character that offer safe and visually appealing <br /> envlranments,with street landscaping, entries, walls and fences,signage and other <br /> elements designed as an integrated system for each neighborhood. <br /> Figure 3,4: Neightxar¢tood Structure Illustrates a conceptual layout of a riathborhood <br /> within the community. Nalghborhoods are sired to provide corivenlent walking <br /> access to the local Neighborhood Center and commerclal uses. Each family <br /> neighborhood,and the Neighborhood K mixed active adult and family neighborhood, <br /> is organized around a Neighborhood Center consisting of a K-8 school, a <br /> Neighborhood Park, and a Neighborhood Commercial area- Family neighborhood <br /> boun6aftes. and the neighborhood botrndarles for the Neighborhood J & K mixed <br /> aotiue adult and family neighborhoods,are also intended to delineate the attendance <br /> boundaries of the K-8 schools. The Neighborhood J mixed active adult and family <br /> neighborhood will not contain a Neighborhood Center but Will feature only One <br /> component of a Neighborhood Center, a Neighborhood Park located on the east of <br /> the neighborhood. <br /> 'three VIIIage Centers are located to provide nearby shopping and service heads for <br /> groups of four neighborhoods. Thi VlRage Centers will also provide transit <br /> connections and facilities, <br /> 3.1.4 Community Identity and Design Expression <br /> Creating a distinct image and identity is important ku the suoCess of the cprnrnunity <br /> envlran ment, The image of Mountain House will he partially established through the <br /> consistent treatment of community-wide elements such as landscaping and site <br /> graphics. Additionally,the Master Plan contains provisions regarding buildings,public <br /> art.Water elerrlenis,site furnishings and other elerrtents which contribute to the overall <br /> IrnBge of the comrnun4. Within this community-wide framework,each rielgihborhood <br /> will beneFlt from a consistent applicattan of design elements that are uniquo to that <br /> neighborhood.
