20400 Kennefick Road,Acampo
April 17,2001
Page Two
Response: A drainagelparking plan was submitted and approved by the Public
Works Department in February 1977: Since this plan was then submitted to
the Planning Department as part of the Use Permit, it would appear that the
parking issue was also approved.
4. Concern: There is to be no outside storage unless the area is fenced in.
Response: The owner has agreed to provide this fence and remove trash and
junk.
5. Concern: Business License indicates the manufacture of rubber wheels.
Response: Our records indicate that Cope Manufacturing was issued Business
License Number 97-0009. The description on this license is for the
"manufacture of rubber and machine parts"While they may in fact
manufacture rubber wheels, these are a component of the conveyor system that
they repair or manufacture.
6. Concern:Trucks that drive onto the property honk their air horns.
Response: In the past,'a sign was posted to tell the drivers to sound their horn
to get the attention of the forlcli8 driver. Since we visited the site last
November, this sign has been removed. It has been suggested that a sign be
posted to not honk their horn when entering the property. An alternate
suggestion would be to install a bell or buzzer that the driver could activate that
would only ring inside the buildings.
In meeting with Dan Mills of Cope Manufacturing,it appears that he would like
to be a"good neighbor'not only to your client, but to everyone in the area. His
intent is to install a fence along the side and rear portion of the property. This will
now bring him into compliance with the Use Permit. He is aware that this fence must
be either solid wood, masonry or metal;it cannot be chain link with slats.
A clean-up of the property will be instituted by April 25th tb dispose of the debris and
trash, and to enclose all machinery parts behind a fence. In addition,W.Mills will
attempt to discontinue the use of the buck horns,as well as any disturbance that the
trucks may cause. If adequate progress is not made, further legal action will be taken.
I hope that this answers your concerns. I apologize for the time it took to
respond;however,it took some time to research these items.
