San Joaquin County Community Environmental Setting,Impacts, and Mitigation Measures _
Development Department Geology,Soils,and Seismicity
bench of undisturbed, native material at the elevation of the post-project water
table, this impact is considered less than significant, and no additional mitigation
is required.
Mitigation Measure GEO-8: Implement the Recommendations
of the Geotechnical Services Report prepared by Kleinfelder _
in 2003 and the Addendum to Geotechnical Services Report
prepared by Kleinfelder in 2004
A bench of native (undisturbed)material shall be left at the groundwater
elevation of the quarry pits, as set forth in the Kleinfelder reports.
Impact GEO-9: Potential Structural Damage and Injury
from Development on Expansive Soils (Less than
Significant)
Moderate to high shrink-swell potential(i.e., soil expansiveness)exists in the
project area. If structural foundations were constructed over expansive and/or
weak soils, structural damage could occur. Expansive soils could cause a risk for
post-construction heave and cracking of concrete slabs, as well as lightly loaded
foundations and pavements.
No structural foundations are proposed to be constructed at the site. As such,
potential structural damage and injury from development on expansive soils
is considered less than significant. No mitigation is required.
DeSilva Gates Quarry Project
Draft Environmental Impact Report 3.F-16
dos 05105 05
