The proposed Project
would contribute to these conditions. This is a significant impact. Caltrans —
Concept Facility for SR 132 is a four-lane freeway from I-580 to just past the 1-5
junction and the Ultimate Transportation Corridor(UTC)within this segment is
for a six-lane freeway. An evaluation prepared in support of the separate SR
132/Bird Road Interchange Project concluded that a six-lane freeway section on
SR 132 within these limits(consistent with the UTC)would provide the capacity
needed for acceptable traffic operations through the year 2027. The separate
interchange project does not, however, include the construction of a six-lane —
freeway between the 1-580 and I-5 interchanges. A shorter-term traffic
operations analysis was also prepared for the SR 132/Bird Road Interchange
Project that indicated that mainline SR 132 between the junctions with I-580 and —
I-5 would require the six-lane freeway segment in the year 2017 in order to
obtain acceptable Levels of Service. Caltrans has concurred with this conclusion
and approved the use of a 10-year design period for the interchange project. _
Caltrans and the County also concurred that the construction of the additional
DeSilva Gates Quarry Project —
Draft Environmental Impact Report 5-10
J85 05105.05
