DSS Engineering Contractors
655 W. Clay Street
Stockton, CA 95206-0099
Subject: Limited Groundwater Assessment
Groundwater Monitoring Report 2005
DSS Vernalis Quarry
2648 West Blewett Road
Tracy, California 95376
Dear Mr. Silva:
The following is a report summarizing the groundwater sampling activities conducted by
Kleinfelder in December 2005 at the DSS Vernalis Quarry in Tracy, California. This
report is required by the State of California Regional Water Quality Control Board
(RWQCB) Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 99-034 (MRP) and the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (EHD).
FIELD ACTIVITIES
Sample Collection
On December 28, 2005 three (3) groundwater samples were collected from deep wells
DW-1 located near the western boundary of the site, DOM-1 located in the southwest
corner of the site, and DW-3 located east of the. quarry. The samples were collected
from discharge points located near the ground surface where the wells were installed
and prior to any surface treatment equipment. Mr. Ron Yaokum of DSS facilitated the
activation of each well. (Note: DW-2 was not sampled at this time because it was
sampled at an earlier date by the facility.)
The three wells sampled were allowed to run for approximately 10-minutes each with
approximate flow rates ranging from 1-2 gallons per minute (gpm) and 10-15 gpm. Prior
to discharge and sample collection the outside of the sample ports were cleaned with a
Liquinox solution for decontamination from outside sources.
The water samples were collected in laboratory grade and approved sample containers.
The water samples were sealed, labeled, and logged on a chain of custody at the site.
The water samples were placed in a chilled cooler with ice prior to transport to the
laboratory.
29131.E011ST06R8381FE3:Iv Page 1 of 4
©2006 Kleinfelder, Inc, August 1, 2006
KLFINFFLDER 2325 East Myrtle Street, Stockton, CA 95205-4794 !2091 946-1345 (209) 943-0621 fax
