' 05 November 2014
AGE Project No. 14-3119
tPage 12 of 17
' 9.3. CURRENT ON-SITE SOURCES OF NITRATE
Septic systems, rainfall and agriculture (adjacent property to the north) are sources of
' nitrates (fertilizers) are presented on the subject property.
The current site usage include a house comprised of four bedrooms, with presumable
three bathrooms (sink and toilet) to accommodate the residents. Residential use
includes clothes wash, showering/bathing, clothes washing cooking and hand washing.
The reasonable or maximum usage of wastewater the three bathroom facility by
residents is 120 gallons per day (gpd) per bathroom or a total of 360 gallons per day.
The total nitrate-nitrogen (NO3_N) average concentrations in domestic waste ranges
' between 20 to 85 milligram total nitrogen liter (mg/1-N) with an average of 45 mg/I-N
when washing and sanitation is considered.
' The weighted average calculation for total nitrogen concentrations for on-site residential
flow is proposed as the following:
' Residential volume 360 gallons per day (gpd)
Home use concentration 45 mg/1-N (SJCO EHD standard)
' The flow concentration of 13,000 mg/I-N gallon
' 9.4. FUTURE ON- SITE SOURCES OF NITRATE
The future use of the site will consist of long-term waste water from a minor commercial
' application. Future development includes the addition of waste water loading into a new
septic system under normal operational and limited weekly status related to the use of
the property as a minor church development. The two bathrooms (sinks and toilets)
' accommodate the potential employees and the potential church participants and
visitors. A kitchen with a dish washer and hand washing sink will also likely be
incorporated into the discharge of waste water onto the site.
' The reasonable or maximum usage of wastewater the two bathrooms fac lity by the
maximum number of church member and visitors (99) is five gallons per day gpd) per
' person. Other waste should not contain appreciable concentrations of nitrogen (workers
washing hands and glassware/kitchen waste). However, based on the type of proposed
use of a kitchen, a restaurant value or cocktail lounge of waste water discharge should
' be added to the total volume; an additional 20 gpd per person for once per week, will be
added to the total.
' A total of 30_gp4 (99 visitor bathroom trips/day x 5 gpd; 3 worker bathroom/day x 5 gpd
and 99 visitor associated with a restaurant/day x 10 gallons per week) is the projected
total daily waste quantity (nitrogen loading).
1
Advanced GeoEnviron rental,Inc.
t
