Soil Suitability Study 3
Soil Profile Test :
Excavation to a depth of six (6) feet below the ground surface
was performed for the Soil Profile investigation on Parcel No. 2 at
the location shown on the attached "Parcel Map" . Two (2) basic soil
layers were found in excavating to the 6-foot depth. From the
ground surface to a depth of 6 .0 feet , the soil was noted to be
reddish-brown, clay loam and at 6 . 0 feet , reddish-brown, hardpan
was encountered. Excavation to depths below the hardpan layer would
have been too difficult and impractical with the hand tools being
used in the digging and consultation with the San Joaquin Public
Health Service Environmental Health Division resulted in the
waiving of excavating to the usual ten ( 10) feet depth.
No water was encountered in excavating to the 6-foot depth.
The San Joaquin County Flood Control And Water Conservation Map
entitled "Lines Of Equal Depth To Water Wells" dated Fall 1990
shows the water to be in excess of 120 feet below the ground
surface .
Percolation Tests :
Two (2) percolation test holes in the middle of the 94 . 1
acres , one ( 1 ) on each side of the boundary line separating Parcel
No. 1 from Parcel No. 2 at the south end of the 94 . 1 acres , were
excavated to about a 3-foot depth. The location of the two (2) test
holes are shown on the attached "Parcel Map" .
All percolation tests conducted were performed in accordance
with the percolation test procedures outlined in the "Manual Of
Septic Tank Practice" published by the Department Of Health
Education And Welfare and the requirements of the San Joaquin
County Public Health Service, Environmental Health Division.
On January 23 and 24 , 1992 , two percolation tests were
performed on the subject property under my direction in conformance
with the San Joaquin County Public Health Service, Environmental
Health Division regulations and the San Joaquin County Ordinance
Code Standards .
Percolation Test Hole Nos . 1 and 2 resulted in the
percolation rates and determinations shown on the attached "Field
Note Sheet" and are tabulated as follows :
John and Wally Borges MS-91-67 , Parcel Nos . 1 & 2
