By utilizing existing towers, these carriers will realize substantial cost savings while the local
jurisdiction realizes a reduction in the number of new facilities.
Specifically ::
This permit application requests zoning and planning approval for one freestanding 185' 3
legged lattice tower with a base of approximately 25.' (Please see attached site plans.) The
plans indicate four (3) sets of PCS wireless carriers panel antenna (9 panel antenna each). The
typical size of panel antenna are 6' tall by 8" wide. The towers are capable of accommodating
one or two paging company's antenna consisting of 1-3 whip antenna. Space will also be
available for 3 microwave dishes. Each set of PCS and paging antenna must be spaced
approximately 10' apart for clearance. SBA is leasing approximately 10,000 square feet of
property from the earlier mentioned property owner for the location of this tower as well as
any/all accompanying radio cabinets/huts that these future carriers will require space for. The
entire area will be secured by a 6' chain link fence topped with three strands of barbwire for
the protection of the carrier's equipment. A propane back-up generator may be installed by
carriers, for emergency power, on one of the existing equipment pads. The generator would
be a model approved by the building/fire inspection department.
The required utilities will be brought in from the nearest available source. Access and
easement issues have been approved by the property owner. Direct access to the project
location is within the subject parcel. No public utilities such as water or sewer are necessary
fpr the operation of this site. No products or materials will be produced or stored at this site.
This site will be an unmanned service facility and will be serviced approximately once a
month by maintenance technicians (1-2 hours). There are no designated parking spaces
within the lease area as the site will not have employees or customers. Construction of the
lattice tower will take approximately 6 weeks and each carrier's installation of antenna will
take 3-5 days.
SBA will be responsible for managing the site, ensuring that all of the safety requirements are
met. SBA will comply with all of the local, state and federal safety requirements imposed on
new tower facilities. Emergency telephone numbers will be placed at the site. Several
equipment pads will be provided for the carriers to place their equipment cabinets and/or
prefabricated huts.
Collocation Project Description
